Postpartum Health Journey

Sera Briggs

Happy Friday y’all!!! With MW’s first birthday approaching, I was thinking it would be a good time to share will y’all my postpartum health journey from this past year!!!

Let me backup and start with before I got pregnant. Yes I was small, but I was in terrible shape. I would always say I was going to start eating right and working out, but I never actually took the initiative to do so. I felt terrible and never had any energy. Once I got pregnant all of this just multiplied and got so much worse. This time last summer I was a whopping 50lbs heavier, and let me just say pregnancy was rough!!!

Once I had MW my mind was made up I was going to change my habits and get myself in shape!!! I had been following Jen Guthrie for several years now and knew I wanted to join her Beachbody Bootcamp. I didn’t want to do anything that would set me up for failure—— after all I was not trying to go on a diet but have a lifestyle change.

Beachbody taught me how to eat right, gave me an endless fitness plan that I could do from anywhere with just about any schedule, and it helped me get in the best shape of my life!! I made my mind up that eating right a few days out of the week was better than eating wrong every meal. I told myself working out one day a week was better than no days.

I just set small attainable goals for myself and it has helped me tremendously!!! Here are a few things I have done that have worked for me:

-Monday-Thursday: I try and eat as healthy as I can and drink as much water as possible.

-I drink a Shakeology just about every morning in place of breakfast.

-We do not keep soft drinks in our house. If we go out to eat , I may treat myself to one.

-Beachbody sends you a list of things that are good for you to eat and I just went through the list and picked the things off of there that I enjoy and mix those up for different meal.

These are just a few things that have helped me!! For me, it wasn’t about a number on the scale. It was all about feeling better!! Have I done the best job with with workout plan? No ——I have not but I have done great sticking with the eating, and I can say I am in a much better place than I was this time last year and the year before that!!! I feel a million times better!!
